Edge defeats Sheamus in their first-ever bout in front of a raucous Toronto crowd during the August 18 episode of WWE SmackDown.
According to Edge, this was also his last time wrestling in the city that he has called his home every time he's walked to the ring for the last 25 years.
The match against Sheamus was a hard-hitting affair, with Edge winning by countering a Brogue Kick with a Spear and covering the Celtic Warrior. The television show ended with Edge embracing Sheamus after celebrating his victory with his family in the front row.
After the show, however, Edge spoke to the Toronto audience directly, and while he did say he doesn't know what his future holds for sure, he does believe entirely that this is the final time he will ever wrestle in Toronto.
"What I can say is that this is my last one in front of y'all," Edge said in the promo. "I don't think I can make it another full run to get here again for a match. I'm just being honest with you, but don't let that be a downer because, man, what an experience you all gave me. I will never forget it. I will never forget it. When I'm 84 years old, and I don't remember much, I'm damn sure going to remember this. Thank you."
