Elias continues to proclaim that WrestleMania will be his greatest performance to date.
"WWE's Modern-Day Bob Dylan" Elias has stated in a number of interviews recently that his live musical performance at this year's WrestleMania will be like nothing the WWE Universe has ever seen before. Back in December, Elias gave another "life-changing" performance while the WWE hosted its super-show live event in India. The man formerly known as "The Drifter" made fun of the nation of India in good fun and entertained those in attendance.
“What I normally do is that I travel into whatever city, town, country and try to take in the landscape. I try to observe the city, people and get the inspiration to write my song; are these people I like, I don’t like, city I would like to hang out in or the city I would like to leave immediately,” Elias shared with the Times Of India.
As similar to most of Elias' performances they always garner quite the reaction from fans whether it'd be cheers or boos. It was no different during WWE's live event in India, as Elias stated that the crowd "ate it up" in regards to his performance.
“The reaction was really amazing,” said Elias, “The Indian crowd were eating that up and that is just a testament to me as a great performer”.
While Elias was a part of the NXT brand, his gimmick did not connect well with the NXT Universe and it was not until "The Sinister Songsmith" played his way onto the main roster that he found that connection to the fans. Elias would go on to explain why he believes he was not able to succeed in NXT the way that he is currently succeeding.
“I spent a lot of time in NXT before coming up to main roster. What I think the main difference is that what I was doing on live events during my time in NXT is what I brought to TV on the main roster. A lot of people only saw me in short little bursts on NXT; maybe 30 seconds at a time on guitar, or a a few minutes in the ring. Monday Night RAW has given me a lot more time and of freedom to express myself.”
Elias has not captured gold in WWE since his start in the company in 2014. He looks to add gold around his waist as well as other accomplishments such as becoming a consistent main-eventer. But most importantly, Elias has his sights set on delivering the performance of a lifetime in New Orleans.
“It is definitely satisfying to be in the main events and reach certain levels of success, but as far as personal goals are concerned, I am not even close to where I want to be yet. I feel like I am only starting my path to the very top here so all that stuff about success and where I am at right now is for everybody else to decide, not me,” He added, “At WrestleMania, my performance will be something like you have not seen Elias do before. We call WrestleMania the grandest spectacle of them all and I may be the grandest performer in Monday Night RAW and in WWE and it is only fitting that at WresteMania, I put on the biggest performance you have seen."
Elias was last seen on Monday Night RAW two weeks ago after he was demolished once again by "The Monster Among Men" Braun Strowman.
