If you ever wondered who comes up with all the songs Elias performs at WWE events, look no further than the guitar-strumming grappler himself.
Appearing on a recent episode of E&C's Podcast of Awesomeness, Elias told Edge and Christian that he writes his own songs, whether it be for Raw, a pay-per-view or a house show.
Elias, who noted that he has been playing guitar since he was 15 years old, noted that when he first started doing the "Drifter" gimmick in NXT, he would remain silent and play guitar. Then, before a house show in Largo, Terry Taylor asked Elias to try singing a song.
Elias came up with the song that night and, according to him, it "kind of clicked right off the bat. I evolved it from there.”
Since moving up to the main roster, Elias has come up with dozens of different songs -- a different one for each event, and each town.
"The good thing is I know where I'm going to be next week," he said in an interview held prior to WWE's recent tour of Western Canada, adding, "I write a new song for every city I go in. So tomorrow for Saskatoon [Saskatchewan], they'll have a special [for] Saskatoon. I'll come up with something [in] each one. I normally have an idea heading in there what I would want to sing about or talk about. It makes writing the song a little bit easier when it comes game time."
