Ember Moon is currently sidelined with a ruptured Achilles, but when she was healthy, her post-NXT run was hot and cold. Moon was moved to the main roster following WrestleMania 34 following a successful NXT run that saw her win the NXT Women's Championship.
Moon has been on-and-off television in the years that have followed, and while she has competed in the Women's Royal Rumble and Money in the Bank matches, many fans have found her main roster run to be disappointing.
Speaking to Booker T on his Hall of Fame podcast, Moon discussed her frustrations with being used inconsistently.
"Does it get frustrating at times? Of course, naturally. We work for the biggest company in the world and we have the biggest roster in the world. It gets frustrating but I never lose the love for it," she said. "There are times when I'll sit down and be like, 'Why do I do this? This is stupid.' Then I sit back and I'm like, you know what, it doesn't matter how frustrated you get sometimes because everyone has bad days. You sit back and it's like, 'I've done so much, why wouldn't I be happy with the journey?' As soon as I get in the ring, it's falling in love all over again."
She continued, "It's hard [to breakout]. I feel like there is more and less opportunity. We as women -- I'm only speaking from the women's half because I'm in that locker room -- we're in the middle of this revolution. A lot of people thought it ended at Evolution but we still fight every day for everything. It's a weird combination of being frustrated and lost in the shuffle. Do you get jealous and angry, yeah, who doesn't? Sometimes, you're not happy with the writing. You go out there and it's like 'well, this is putting food on the table and paying the bills.' I've been lost in the shuffle. The hardest thing is to walk in the locker room and know your worth as a talent and performer and entertainer, and sit in catering for two months."
After challenging Bayley for the SmackDown Women's Championship at SummerSlam 2019, Moon suffered a ruptured Achilles during a 24/7 Title chase segment in September. Before taking time off for the injury, Moon hinted that she was in line for a push.
"I was at a very weird point before I left, and I had just got a phone call from someone saying 'it's your time, we're about to do this.' And I found out [about the Achilles injury] in about two hours."
There is currently no timetable for Moon's return.
On a recent WWE Backstage appearance, Moon expressed her frustrations with how the women's division is currently spotlighted. You can view her comments by clicking here. Moon is set to return to WWE Backstage next Tuesday.
