Eric Bischoff may be best known for his time in professional wrestling, but there was a time he could’ve owned the UFC.
The former WCW and WWE personality says that when he was offered the deal, the UFC was advertised more like a tough man contest than what it is now.
"Nobody looked at it as competition - it was a tough man contest," Bischoff said on the 83 Weeks Podcast (via Marco Rovere of Wrestling Inc.). "Not taking anything away from people involved in it, but it was being promoted as a tough man type. It wasn't being promoted the way it was being promoted today. I don't think anybody looked at it as a threat or competition. As a fan, I was curious about it but not concerned about it."
Bischoff also claims there was a time when he was offered a chance to buy the UFC for $2 million.
However, Bischoff never returned the phone call and looking back, it was a phone call Bischoff wishes he would’ve returned.
"If we'd have known then what we know now, I'd own it," Bischoff said. "I was offered to buy it at one point for 2 million dollars and I didn't bother to return the phone call."
