Matt Riddle says Shane McMahon is not the caliber of opponent AJ Styles needs.
Last Tuesday, McMahon made his match official with Styles. He made the match after weeks of Styles berating him about losing his opportunity to headline Wrestlemania 33. This will be McMahon's second Wrestlemania match in a row after seven years away from the company. On Fightful Wrestling's BROCAST,Riddle said he does not get the hype about McMahon versus Styles at Wrestlemania 33.
"The worst part is: people are like 'oh man this is going to be sick', maybe it will be I don't know. Shane McMahon is willing to put his body on the line but his technique at this point of the game isn't as good as....I don't know, so he's going to go toe-to-toe with AJ Styles, one of the best in the world. Again James Ellsworth has beat AJ Styles multiple times right? Thing is, Shane has had good matches, he had a great match with Kurt Angle, that crazy match they had. He had a good match against Taker last year, that was mostly him flying off a cage, but still pretty legit," said Riddle. "I think AJ Styles should be wrestling someone at a higher level so he would be having a really good match," later added Riddle.
Wrestlemania 33 already has eleven matches set for April 2nd, McMahon and Styles being the most recent addition. Riddle would agree with Fightful Wrestling podcast host Sean Ross Sapp, that it speaks well of AJ Styles for him to be put in the position to wrestle a McMahon. Also on this podcast, Riddle discussed his recent wrestling tour in Europe, the planning that went into that, and Roman Reigns.
Riddle appears on Fightful Wrestling's BROCAST each Thursday. The episodes are available immediately with membership which is free.
