Big Damo (formerly Killian Dain in WWE) was in awe of Sanity's entrance the first time he saw it.
For nearly the first three years of his time in NXT/WWE, Big Damo was one of the members of Sanity along with Eric Young, Nikki Cross, and Alexander Wolfe. The group, who held the NXT Tag Team Titles once, are perhaps best remembered for two things; first, their 2017 WarGames match, and second, their entrance.
Speaking with Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp (full interview above), Big Damo noted that the entrance was cut slightly when the group moved the SmackDown in April 2018. Beyond that, however, he said he got goosebumps the first time seeing it, admitting that he almost forgot what to do.
"I think they cut thirty seconds off the end, ‘cause it was a very long entrance. So it wasn’t quite the same on SmackDown, so they didn’t really get to see the full ins and outs of the entrance. When we first did it in NXT, I was actually watching it then before Sawyer Fulton got injured. I’m watching them live going, ‘Oh, my God, I got goosebumps.’ Suddenly I’m in it and I’m like, ‘Ah, what do I do?’ It was very cool because Alexander Wolfe and Nikki Cross, they got really lost in the character and they really brought something to that. You’ve got EY babbling the entire time to the camera. It was very cool to be a part of, very cool to watch," he said.
Big Damo continued on, saying that being a part of WWE 2K18 was a cool experience for them, adding that WWE always did a great job presenting their entrance whether it be in a video game or at a live event. He told Fightful that experiencing the production side of the business is one of the best things about being part of WWE.
"I remember when they revealed, I think it was 2k18, and they used the Sanity entrance as the reveal, that was really cool experience for us. Because that was the first video was they used our entrance, like the
four-person entrance, as the video clip. It was very cool that that was what they used ‘cause we loved being a part of it, loved the atmosphere. You have to get all the timing right and all that stuff. It was very cool, all the effects. Even when we did the live version, they’d always do really cool things with the light at the house shows. When they would do the live events, they always made such a good effort with the lighting and the music, the smoke effects, whatever else. So everybody would be super pumped as we were making our entrance. It was one of the cool things to be a part of because that’s the part of WWE that you want to experience, is that production side of things and we got to really experience it. You can’t compare it to the
independents. Especially leading up to the live performances and boom, there it is. It was incredible," he said.
Sanity disbanded in April 2019, and Big Damo returned to NXT, where he would form a partnership with Drake Maverick. In June 2021, Damo was released by WWE, leaving Nikki Cross as the sole member of the group left with the company.
Up next for Big Damo is a return to New Japan Pro Wrestling, where he will face Tomohiro Ishii at NJPW STRONG: Mutiny on April 10, 2022. Fightful will have results from the event immediately following its conclusion.
