Billie Starkz talks about her eye-opening Swanton dive at TJPW Grand Princess.
Starkz has become a breakout star on the independent scene, as the 18-year-old continues to compete for various promotions, including GCW, ROH, MLW, and Black Label Pro. She recently took a trip to Japan and wrestled at TJPW Grand Princess on March 18. During the bout, she hit a remarkable Swanton dive to the outside onto Mei Saint-Michel.
In an interview with Fightful's Scott Edwards, Starkz discussed her recent trip to Japan and her buzzworthy Swanton to the outside. Starkz explained that, in her mind, the distance she dove wasn't that far, whereas it looks like a long fall in the video. She noted that watching the video back made her question how such a move was possible before she stated that she didn't feel any pain upon impact. While she pointed out that she sprained her ankle when she stood up, Starkz emphasized that she did not suffer a head injury.
"I feel like the video is a lie because, in my head, it was not that far. I was standing up there, ‘Oh yeah, she’s so close, jump.’ On the video, I was like, ‘this looks insane, I wouldn’t do this.’ It was like to the other ring post. I watched it and was like, ‘Did I just do a coast to coast swanton? How is this possible?’ I actually didn’t feel any pain from the Swanton. It was more when I stood up, I stood up and twisted my ankle, so you see my waddling on my ankle. The Swanton didn’t hurt, you saw me stand up and I was like, ‘Oh crap.’ I think it worried everybody because I’m somebody who tucks very late, but that’s because I feel I have better control of not over-rotating and killing my hips, so I tuck super late and that scares a lot of people. I promise I didn’t hit my head. A lot of people thought I got a concussion from it. My head did not touch the ground," Starkz said.
