Billie Starkz reflects on wrestling for ROH.
Starkz, 18, continues to generate buzz as she wrestles all throughout the independent scene in the United States. She has also traveled to Japan and worked for TJPW. 2023 has been a particularly remarkble year, as she has wrestled for ROH, MLW, and AEW.
In an interview with Fightful's Scott Edwards, Starkz shared her thoughts on having the opportunity to wrestle for ROH. She emphasized that she had fun, though she was competing while her fingernails were split in half. Still, Starkz stated that working for ROH was a big deal for her, as she grew up watching the company, and she always wanted to wrestle for them.
"It was honestly a lot of fun. I was wrestling with my fingernails split in half though. My hand was hurting so much. ‘This is my last match, it’ll be fine,’ then I started wrestling and I was like, ‘My hand hurts!’ It was already wrapped in bandages and stuff. ‘It’s probably going to bleed, it’ll be fine.’ I had so much fun and ROH was a really big deal for me because I grew up watching it. It was a really big part of my childhood. Mouse has videos of me being like, ‘I want to work here one day. This would be cool.’ I was super small and I’m like, ‘This is not real. That’s not me,'" Starkz said.
Starkz wrestled for AEW, ROH, and MLW within the span of a few days in February 2023, on top of her busy schedule with a number of independent promotions throughout the United States.
When asked about working AEW, ROH, MLW in the same week, Starkz replied, "I’m just riding this high. I love this wave that I’m on and I hope this journey continues this way. It’s crazy to show my friends at school, ‘Look what I’m doing."
Starkz subsequently made it clear that she wants to make her way back to DEFY Wrestling. She noted that she was there as a fan the last time she went to an event, and she would love to be a part of it. Though it hasn't happened yet, Starkz named DEFY as a place she would like to make a pitstop at.
"I want to make it back to DEFY. I would love to be on a DEFY show. When I went up there, I was just hanging out, I went as a fan, and I was like, ‘this is insane, I would love to be a part of this.’ I haven’t made the journey back out there, but it’s somewhere I would like to go make a pitstop at," Starkz said.
In the same interview, Starkz discussed her experience training with TJPW. Check out her comments here.
