Bronson Reed puts over Tommy Knight and talks about the wave of Australian talent taking over the wrestling world.
Bronson Reed, Rhea Ripley, Grayson Waller, and Zaria are just a few of the names with roots in Australia who are making waves in the wrestling scene right now. Australian wrestlers are becoming more and more commonplace at the top of pro wrestling cards, and Bronson Reed is proud to see that representation.
Speaking with Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp, Reed was especially excited to put over Tommy Knight, a young Australian talent that he helped train.
"As for Australian wrestling now, I’m a big fan of a guy that I helped train. His name is Tommy Knight. He’s starting to do more, he’s like a main event everywhere in the country in Australia, but he’s gonna start doing more overseas stuff soon. So, hopefully, you get to see him."
Speaking more broadly about the lack of representation he felt growing up in Australia as a wrestling fan, Reed remarked that Australians would only get glimpses of representation in the form of someone like Nathan Jones, who didn't even last very long.
"For me as a kid, longtime wrestling fan my whole life, there was no representation for Australian people in wrestling. Or you had little glimpses. You had Nathan Jones, he only lasted a couple months. There was no representation, and now I think it’s great, there’s a kid’s magazine back home that I’ve been in a few times, and it sort of is surreal for me. I remember reading that as a kid and looking at pictures of Austin and The Rock and stuff like that, and now you get to see Bronson Reed and Rhea Ripley and Grayson Waller. Hopefully, that inspires a whole new generation of wrestling fans back home that and up getting into the business."
WWE recently held its WWE Elimination Chamber event in Australia in 2024. Next year, AEW will hold an AEW Grand Slam pay-per-view in Australia. Learn more about the upcoming event for February 2025 here.
