Drew McIntyre is all about Saturday pay-per-views.
This year, WWE started experimenting with Saturday pay-per-views. both SummerSlam and the first night of WrestleMania took place on a Saturday and next year, SummerSlam will once again be taking place on a Saturday only this time, for the first time ever it will emanate from Nashville, Tennessee and take place in July rather than August.
One person who is very excited about SummerSlam in Nashville is Drew McIntyre. Drew recently moved to Nashville and he tells Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp in an exclusive interview that he hasn't decided whether he wants to be known as “The Nashville Warrior” or “The Scottish Cowboy but he has his cowboy hat, cowboy boots, and kilt ready to go.
"It made me very happy to see SummerSlam is coming to Nashville. I love when shows are close by and I can just drive straight to the show, especially something as wild as SummerSlam in a stadium. I imagine it'll be much like WrestleMania, a big event with fan activities. I can just drive back and forth to home. The hometown boy, The Nashville Warrior, The Scottish Cowboy, I haven't decided yet. I've got my cowboy boots and hats. Throw the kilt on. Boom, Scottish Cowboy is ready to go."
Drew McIntyre is also very excited about the idea of major events moving into Saturday as he believes it is better for those in his home continent of the United Kingdom.
"Historically, we've always done Sunday and I've always wondered why. It's not my department to figure out why it makes more sense on a Sunday, but I always thought, 'If we do this on Saturday,' especially when I was a kid and being awake until one or two in the morning in the UK and walking into school tired or my Uncle who had to work, everyone staying up so late. If we had Saturday, have a party, don't have to worry about school the next day, adults don't have to worry about drinking and the hangover. I'm all about Saturday."
In a recent interview with the Battleground Podcast, Drew McIntyre revealed he would like to have Willie Nelson play him to the ring next year at SummerSlam. Learn more here.
Fightful will have live coverage of WWE Survivor Series, where Drew will represent Team SmackDown, on Sunday, November 21, as it airs on Peacock.
