Eric Bischoff On WCW/nWo Revenge: Other People Focused On The Video Game Market, I Got To Watch It Grow

Eric Bischoff talks video games.

After not being featured in a game for nearly 20 years, Eric Bischoff returned to the world of video games in WWE 2K22 back in March 2022. Since then, Bischoff has appeared as a playable character in both WWE 2K23 and WWE 2K24.

As it turns out, Bischoff hasn't really been involved in his inclusion in these games. In a new interview with Fightful, Bischoff said that he only figures out he's in a game when he gets a royalty check.

"I don't do shit, bro. I don't even know which games I'm in. The only time I know I'm in a video game is when I get a royalty check a couple of times a year. I go, ‘Oh, it's a video game royalty. I didn't even know I was in one. That's awesome.’"

Then, Bischoff went on to talk about WCW/nWo Revenge, one of the most popular wrestling video games of all time.

"That game was a particularly well produced game, by the way. It got a lot of positive feedback from the video game market at the time. But what's interesting is I didn't know, and I still don't know much about the video game industry. It was never a segment of the business that I spent a lot of time delving into and understanding to be frank. So I knew it was popular. I knew it was a big moneymaker. But back when WCW first broke into that market, it was an emerging marketplace. The video game business was strong back then. But wrestling video games, they'd been around, but they were emerging in a new way. I didn't really understand the scope of it all at that time. Again, it wasn't a segment of the business that I focused on. So I relied on other people who did focus on it to bring us good opportunities. So I just got to sit back and watch all the fun and watch it grow. It was great."

Elsewhere in the interview, Bischoff talked about the overproduced nature of WWE and AEW in 2019/2020. Check out his full comments on the subject by clicking here.

MLW Superfight 6 will take place in Atlanta, Georgia on Saturday, February 6. The show will stream live on YouTube at 9 p.m. EST.
