Exclusive: Britt Baker Reveals She Flew Herself To Atlanta To Film Pre-Full Gear Promo

Britt Baker took steps to get her fate in her own hands

Though she's not the champion, Britt Baker has been one of the focal points of the AEW women's division. Her match against Bea Priestley may have been on the AEW Full Gear pre-show, but the story behind the match was stronger than the AEW Women's Title bout between Riho and Emi Sakura, which came together in the last week.

A highlight of the build between Baker and Prieslety was Baker's pre-match promo, which aired on an episode of AEW Dark. Speaking to Fightful at Starrcast, Baker revealed she took the initiative to get the promo on television.

"I actually flew to Atlanta myself and said, 'I want to film a promo to give this match some oomph.' There is a real story that lies behind [the match] because she gave me a concussion. I felt like it was so long ago that I wanted to revisit it and make sure the fans know why I hate her and why the match is happening," she said.

While Baker has done well for herself in the division, many fans have criticized AEW for the lack of attention given to the women's division. Kristen Ashly of Bell To Belles reported women's matches in AEW totaled 17 percent of Dynamite television time in October, the second-lowest among weekly shows, topping only NWA Powerrr.

"We're very much in the introductory phase," said Baker. "We only have two hours of TV a week. My goal for the women's division is I hope the fans at home, no matter who it is, can connect with one of the women in the women's division. Whether it's me, Riho, or Bea Priestley, God forbid. I think that's the most important thing and what draws the fans, is connecting with the person in the ring and getting behind them. Or when they really hate them. You want some type of feeling."

The women's division is highlighted more on AEW Dark, AEW's weekly YouTube show.

As fans may know, Baker is also a dentist. And she's dating NXT Champion Adam Cole. Cole makes no secret of his love of video games on social media, often showing off the latest additions to his game room. And while Baker might not be the gamer that her boyfriend is, there is one game where she gets the better of him.

"Every time I leave town, another thing gets added to the game room. I'm like an older gamer. I was very into the N64 and PlayStation 2. After that is when I got into college and dental school, so I didn't have time for anything else. When it comes to N64, I always beat him at Mario Kart and he hates it. When it comes to Halo, I don't even know how to hold a controller," she said.

Baker was victorious in her Full Gear bout against Bea Priestley. When she's not wrestling or working on dental patients, you may find her playing Mario Kart on her iPhone.
