Indi Hartwell says her marriage to Dexter Lumis, albeit staged, was so stressful that it felt like it was real.
Indi Hartwell and Dexter Lumis got married on the September 14 edition of NXT, which happened to be the debut episode of NXT 2.0. This wedding was unique if only because it was one of the first WWE weddings that actually ended with the intended bride and groom getting happily married. Now, Indi Hartwell has had some time to reflect on that wedding and all of the work that went into planning the perfect TV wedding.
Speaking with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, Indi Hartwell said that the amount of work that went into the wedding was so stressful that it felt like she was legitimately getting married.
“To be part of that, to be forever etched in history is a pretty cool feeling. Obviously, the fact that it was a successful wedding, which no one expected, is very very cool.”
She continued, “Leading up to it, it felt really real because I had to find a wedding dress and stuff. I'm like, 'Damn, I'm not even really getting married, but I'm so stressed that it feels like I am.' A lot of people really enjoy the storyline and got really into it. It was really cool to see.”
Now that she has married the man of her dreams, she is focused on competing at a higher level and one day competing in the match of her dreams. Hartwell, part of the new class of NXT women, said that her dream match would be a triple threat against Sasha Banks and Bayley, the two women that solidified the NXT women being main eventers.
“I'm gonna have to cheat this answer and say a triple threat match with Sasha [Banks] and Bayley. Two for one, so I don't have to pick just one opponent. I have a ton of dream matches and that question comes up a lot, so I give different answers, but today that is my answer.”
For now, Indi Hartwell looks to become a two-time NXT Women's Tag Team Champion as she teams with Persia in a Triple Threat Ladder Match at NXT Halloween Havoc.
Fightful will have live coverage on Tuesday, October 26 beginning at 8 p.m. eastern time.
