Jessica Troy feels she represents her entire gender as the first ever woman to hold the PWA World Heavyweight Champion.
In November of last year Jessica Troy made history by capturing the PWA World Heavyweight Championship, defeating Ricky South on night one of PWA Black Label Coloseeum. Troy became the first woman to ever hold the championship, and has since gone on to hold the title for over 220 days.
While speaking to Fightful's Corey Brennan in a recent interview, Jessica noted that she feels like she represents her entire gender as the first every woman to hold the Heavyweight title.
"I've kind of treated it the same as anything else. At PWA especially, we're not women's wrestlers. Well, if we were, I'd need it to be also men's wrestling as well. We're just wrestlers here, which is well, I think is how it should be anyway. So I treated it as just another title shot for me and this is just another title reign for me. I try not to look too deep into the gender because I love to represent women, obviously, because I am a female, but I also just want to represent myself. Being the first ever Women's PWA Heavyweight Champion, I feel like all the pressure and all the representations just put on my shoulders. I'm like, I have to represent my whole gender now. I'd rather just focus on me and show the world what I can do just because I'm Jessica Troy. I'm not just a female. I am Jessica Troy, a wrestler. So that's how I see it anyway."
Troy is currently scheduled to defend her title later this month in a bout with fellow star of the Australian scene, Delta.
Elsewhere in Troy's interview with Fightful, she discussed her upcoming match with Delta. You can read more about that here.
