Tis the season for giving, and we like giving out compliments.
We're not the only ones, as Jordan Oliver joined us for our SHOOT SOFTLY series, where we ask pro wrestlers to say nice things about some of their colleagues. Oliver is in action at GCW Slime City this Saturday against Chris Bey. If you're in the giving mood, donate during the show to help out wrestlers affected by COVID-19.
Ace Austin of IMPACT Wrestling:
"Oh, that’s so easy. Ace Austin is my favorite wrestler. Yeah. I mean, we just went through three twenty-five minute matches across New Jersey, Indiana, back to New Jersey. But, Ace Austin, I think, is going to be the best wrestler in a few years. I think he’s the next AJ Styles. I’ve been saying that since I met him when I was 16 that he’s going to be the next AJ Styles. It’s crazy. He’s made for it."
Gregory Iron, who once owned TRAPT on Twitter:
"Gregory Iron sucks. I hate that guy. Nah, he’s nice. He’s nice, but he’s from Ohio. Like, come on. Ugh, Cleveland. You’re gotta take sixteen showers after that one."
Anthony Greene/August Grey, new WWE signing.
"He’s another guy that really helped me out early on and really started helping me figure things out. There’s a few veterans that kind of hang on to you or whatever and start helping you out. He’s one of the guys. I can still go to him right now for advice. He’s getting everything he deserves."
Joey Janela of AEW:
"Yeah, he is like the Godfather of the Indy Scene. Joey’s another guy that helped me get on GCW. He helped me figure stuff out. We had a recent singles match, but prior to that, maybe, three years before that me, him and KC Navarro had a triple threat at a local indy. That was one of the first matches that helped me get a little bit of buzz ‘cause Joey actually put me over on Twitter after it."
AJ Gray, indie star:
"AJ Gray is cool. I hadn’t really known him until I started wrestling for No Peace. Like, we’d been on a lot of the same shows, but once I started doing No Peace, we started talking and stuff. He’s a really cool guy. Probably got the best clothesline on the indies right now. Cleans you. It’s crazy, he’s so unique. He does similar things to other people, but he does it very AJ Gray. His aesthetic is out of this world."
Matt Sydal, AEW talent, WWE veteran:
"I’ve loved Matt Sydal since I was like a little kid when I saw him on RAW and ECW doing the shooting star press. I mean, Matt Sydal’s so awesome. It was actually a dream, I got to work with him a few months back in Texas. We had a twenty five / thirty minute match and we didn’t talk about anything in the back. We called it all in the ring because I told him I was trained by Jimmy, and he was like, ‘Oh, okay. I guess you can go then.’ So, we just wrestled and that was awesome."
