Kid Lykos Misses The Anonymity Wrestling With A Mask Afforded Him In The Outside World

Kid Lykos reflects on losing his mask almost six months on.

Almost six months ago, Kid Lykos would begin wrestling without a mask after losing to Spike Trivet, in something that was unfamiliar territory for the now Progress World Champion. Soon after, Lykos would defeat Trivet in a steel cage match to win the championship, and continues to wrestle without his mask.

While speaking to Fightful's Corey Brennan in an interview ahead of Super Strong Style 16 weekend later this week, Lykos discussed losing his mask and if he misses it.

"Sometimes, yeah. I think the thing I miss most is just the anonymity outside of wrestling, to be honest. But as far as in-ring things, I think the mask is very good for having your confidence at all times because, you're hidden, you're protected a little bit. It's taken a while to get used to what I'm currently doing, and I'm getting there slowly but surely. I'm still figuring bits out, even things down to how I look in the ring. I think the mask immediately makes you interesting and gripping, and I think that's something I've lost since losing the mask. It's something that Spike Trivet did take away from me. So it's something I've been really trying to find again and make myself interesting. I think it's slowly coming together, but it's just going to take time to get used to. Six months on, it's been a good stretch of time. I think there's still more things to come that will make me feel more comfortable with it."

Lykos is currently set to defend the Progress World Title against Mark Haskins this weekend in a rematch of the 2023 Super Strong Style 16 finals.
