Last month, Progress held their annual Super Strong Style 16 tournament, where 16 top talent vied for the crown. In the end, Luke Jacobs would defeat Ricky Knight Jr in the finals to win the tournament.

While speaking to Fightful's Corey Brennan in a recent interview, Jacobs reflected on winning the tournament, noting that he feels like it was part of the change he wanted and needed over the course of the last year.

"Well, I think it was part of the change I wanted and the change I needed. Because like you said, last year, I made it to the semis. Last year, I went in with the attitude of, it's my first strong style. I'll give it a go. Hopefully, I might be able to win. This year, I just thought, sack that. I thought this whole weekend, it's not about coming in and giving it a go and just being, you know, being glad I'm in the Strong Style tournament. It was coming in, it's about making a statement. Forget giving it a go. Having that attitude now is going to get you nowhere. If you want to be the man, you've got to act like the man and you've got to want it. So I just went in and I thought, I'm going to take this and yeah, I think I won it pretty convincingly in the end."

Jacobs is now scheduled to challenge for the Progress World Title vs Kid Lykos at PROGRESS Chapter 169: The Devil On My Shoulder on July 28th.
