Maki Itoh Talks Her Team With Nick Gage, Says She's Confident She Can Take GCW World Title Off Him

Maki Itoh discusses working with GCW and her current partnership with Nick Gage.

Maki Itoh has seemingly become a regular in Game Changer Wrestling as of late, as she has wrestled for the promotion on four separate occasions since December 2022. Itoh has been involved in a duo with GCW World Champion Nick Gage as of late.

In a new interview with Fightful, Itoh discussed working with GCW and how it's not easy for her to get a reaction in the promotion and how she's learning how to garner one.

"I love the vibe at GCW. I love Tokyo Joshi Pro, but I’m used to it and I know how to get a reaction from the fans. For the fans at GCW, it’s not easy to get a reaction. That is a challenge for me and is something I’m learning. One day, I hope to get them reacting at the snap of my fingers. I hope to continue performing at GCW and teaming with Nick Gage going forward."

Itoh also went on to discuss her duo with Nick Gage and how the two had never spoken before their first interaction on screen.

"We had not spoken before Nick did a promo asking ‘where is my fucking gang?’ I entered the ring and somehow, we had a unique chemistry and bonding. After that promo, we spoke to each other backstage and wrestle. It’s a very unique friendship. I gave him a unique t-shirt and he was very happy about it."

Gage might need to watch his back though, as Itoh also said that a match with GCW's top star is on her radar and that she's confident she can beat him for the GCW World Championship.

"Nick Gage. I am confident I can take the belt [GCW World Title] off him. Right now, I want to learn from him, but maybe in the future, once I have all the tools, I’m going to take the belt and perhaps run GCW by myself."
