Masha Slamovich speaks on competing in Deathmatches and details why barbed wire sucks.
Masha Slamovich is no stranger to violence. A regular competitor for GCW, Slamovich has dealt with her fair share of barbed wire inside the squared circle.
During an appearance on Fightful Overbooked's In The Weeds, with Jeremy Lambert and Joel Pearl, Slamovich reflected on how much hair she's lost by working with barbed wire, saying that she was nearly left bald-headed after wrestling both Blake Christian and Rina Yamashita in the Cage of Survival at GCW Cage Of Survival 2 in 2023.
"Barbed wire sucks. For me, personally, it’s not going through it and getting cut up by it," she began. "Barbed wire just has a love for getting tangled in my hair. I have lost so much hair in the last year to barbed wire that I really try to stay away from it. I damn near got snatched bald when I wrestled Rina in the Cage of Survival Match at GCW and then it got ten times worse when I wrestled Rina in Japan and the barbed wire crown just ate my hair right up. It was so bad. I thought I was going to have to shave my hair off. The blood and the cuts will heal, but I don’t want to walk around with chunks of missing hair for months."
Being given the ability to work for independent promotions such as GCW was a huge deciding factor when Masha chose to sign a contract with TNA Wrestling. Read more about her comments on working for independent promotions while being signed to TNA Wrestling here.
