Mason Madden On The KKK/Thunderdome Incident: I Was Spooked Like, 'Am I Being Set Up Right Now?'

Mason Madden talks the KKK/Thunderdome incident.

During an August 2020 episode of Monday Night Raw, a fan dressed in Ku Klux Klan attire appeared in the Thunderdome virtual crowd during a tag team match between Seth Rollins/Murphy and Dominik/Rey Mysterio. WWE quickly issued a statement on this matter, noting that they were working hard to ban fans like that from future events.

While speaking to Fightful for a new interview, Mason Madden and Mansoor made light of the incident while talking about the Retribution faction.

SEAN ROSS SAPP: “What was your favorite shenanigan of Retribution?
Mine was when they threw a cinder block through a window that
already had a cinder block thrown through it?”

MANSOOR: “That wasn’t him.”

MASON MADDEN: “That wasn’t—”

SEAN ROSS SAPP: “I know it wasn’t you all.”

MASON MADDEN: “So I missed all the good parts. They used the little
guys for the chainsaw.”

SEAN ROSS SAPP: “They had a guy waddling towards the screen going,
‘You better watch out.’”

MANSOOR: “They wanted Retribution to be killers, they wanted them
to be a threat, and who did they fucking put under the ski mask but the motherfucking Lollipop Guild. How—what did they expect was going to
happen?”

MASON MADDEN: “My favorite Retribution story is, so in the
Thunderdome we used to do a lot of movie magic. Retribution hid in all
sorts of places. So one of the places we hid was in the crowd amongst
the TV screens. In one of the times we were going to do a run-in,
someone had hacked one of the TV screens and there was a video of a
Ku Klux Klan rally that was on the TV.”

SEAN ROSS SAPP: “Oh, yes! I remember that.”

MASON MADDEN: “It was right in front of me and I was like spooked
‘cause I was like, ‘Are they coming? Are they here? Is that the run-in?
Am I being set up right now?’ Not really a Retribution story, more of a
Ku Klux Klan story.”

SEAN ROSS SAPP: “Yeah, I don’t think that was one of Mustafa Ali’s
hacking jobs there. I don’t think he did that one.”

MASON MADDEN: “Mustafa Ali famously against the Klan, which is a
hot take.”

SEAN ROSS SAPP: “That’s an exclusive. Right here.”

MANSOOR: “That’s news.”

SEAN ROSS SAPP: “That’s an exclusive.”

MASON MADDEN: “I hope didn’t go out of turn by saying that about
you, Adeel, but he doesn’t like racists.”
