Matt Cardona has leaned heavily into nostalgia culture with the Major Wrestling Figure Podcast, and has branched out with the Major Pod Network. He's not stopping there.
Cardona has been announced for RetroMania Wrestling, adding to a roster of today and yesterday's stars. He told Fightful how the deal came together.
"I want to say it was the day or the day after Brian and I got released, we were contacted to be in the game. This is the official sequel to Wrestlefest. I’m in. Sign me up. I don’t care what the logistics are or what the contracts says ‘cause I’ll probably sign my life away and I don’t even know it. But, to be in the official sequel, I’m in, baby," Cardona said.
As far as video games go, Cardona isn't deep into that world personally. In fact, Kofi Kingston was the beneficiary of his shuttering interest.
"Yeah, so I got N64. After N64 is when I really get out of it, when it gets almost too time consuming, you know what I’m saying? Like to play these games and stuff like that. I remember once we were in the first—whatever the video game first came out that we were in—I went and bought an X-Box and I got killed. I don’t know what I’m doing. Then I sold it to Kofi Kingston, the X-Box and all the games that I had bought," he said.
Cardona moved on from gaming early, but he still contributed to the development of WWE titles. It wasn't when he was actually on the main roster, though.
"So, I did motion capture, actually while I was in Deep South Wrestling in WWE developmental. So, I was doing the moves and stuff like that, like entrances. But, I never did motion capture for Zack Ryder stuff. Listen, I thought it was cool every time I was in a game. I loved it for sure. But, just ‘cause I’m not in it doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate it. I totally appreciate it. It’s a big deal. We have the Game Marks Podcast on the Major Pod Network, I get it. It’s just the game is just too hard for me," Cardona said.
