Miyu Yamashita Wants A Rematch With Athena, Would Love To Face Jamie Hayter

Miyu Yamashita wants to avenge her loss against Athena, and she is also interested in potentially facing Jamie Hayter.

Yamashita is one of the most prominent stars in Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling, and she has also held titles in DDT and Pro Wrestling: EVE. She had a breakout opportunity in 2022 when she faced AEW Women's World Champion Thunder Rosa on the July 27 episode of AEW Dynamite. Yamashita is currently doing three-month tour in the United States, and she continues to compete in high-profile matches. At Prestige Wrestling's Vendetta event on January 21, she unsuccessfully challenged Athena for the ROH Women's World Championship.

In an interview with Fightful's Scott Edwards, Yamashita was asked about potentially returning to AEW or having a rematch with Athena during her tour in the United States. She recalled how she nearly won the title when she faced Athena, but the champion ultimately cheated to clinch the win. Yamashita also expressed her interest in facing Jamie Hayter.

“For Athena, like you heard, she’s a bad girl. She’s very intense, hard-hitting. Miyu [almost won the match], but shenanigans happened, and then [Athena] won the match. So obviously, she would like to get revenge, any time, any place. As for Jamie Hayter, it’s a wrestler she loves to watch. She would love to wrestle her. I believe she’s currently the AEW Champion, so she wouldn’t mind wrestling her anywhere, doesn’t have to be an AEW ring. It could be in a ring anywhere else in America. But who knows? Maybe if she drops the belt, it would be easier outside, but we’ll see," Yamashita said via a translator.

In the same interview, Yamashita stated that she wants to face Mercedes Mone. Check out her comments here.
