There have been many highlights in the short history of All Elite Wrestling. Jon Moxley's surprise appearance, Chris Jericho turning bubbly into a meme, Cody's promo, Orange Cassidy.
But nothing in AEW compares to the living legend Soultrain Jones making an appearance in a video package on AEW Dynamite. Prior to Jericho's showdown with Cody at AEW Full Gear, Soultrain Jones weighed in on the match, praising Chris Jericho for his unlimited talent and greatest of all-time status.
With such a monumental appearance on AEW television, the world needed answers. Who was able to track down the legend? How was Soultrain received in the locker room? How did the AEW Champion and others take inspiration from one of the all-time greats?
At Starrcast IV, Fightful asked the questions on everyone's mind. This is the oral history of the living legend known as Soultrain Jones, as told by AEW stars.
Aubrey Edwards (Chris Jericho's Biggest Rival)
I know he really likes Olive Garden. And I have been craving breadsticks since I saw that promo.
Nyla Rose (A Beast)
It's good to see him back. He's very entertaining. He's always been entertaining.
Sonny Kiss (Limp Bizkit Fan)
Funny as hell. Really awesome. I haven't met him yet, but I love him. He's an icon.
Shazza McKenzie (#SignShazza)
As a fan of Oliver Garden breadsticks, I firmly stand behind his statement.
Brandon Cutler (The Young Bucks Friend)
He won everyone over on the interview he did for Jericho. That had me dying. The breadsticks line, 'unlimited.' His delivery is so good. I love it. He'd be right here next to me at the signings. We'd both be empty tables.
Frankie Kazarian (The Former Suicide)
Next question
Scorpio Sky (Never Pinned Soultrain Jones)
Meh
Joey Janela (A Man With Connections)
Bringing meat sauce back to the mainstream. I'm the one who kind of arranged that. Soultrain Jones should be forever grateful to The Bad Boy for bringing him back on TNT after all these years. They asked, 'Who has Virgil's number?' and people said, 'Janela probably does.' Within five minutes, I had Virgil signed on to do something.
Hangman Page (Does Cowboy Shit)
An absolute legend. I'm glad to see him finally come back to AEW. To have him in the locker room, good veteran. Always good to have a veteran like Soultrain back in AEW.
Evil Uno (Is Evil)
I love Vincent. We met him at a GCW once. He's a sweetheart. Also, a very very odd man. I'm a big fan.
Trent (?)
Am I supposed to know who that is?
Chuckie T (The Peacemaker)
What is that?
Sammy Guevara (Spanish God)
Complete legend. That whole package, one of the greatest in professional wrestling.
Santana (Street Thug)
Bro, 'Chris Jericho's talent is like Olive Garden breadsticks. Unlimited.' That was the greatest line I've ever heard in life. My girl sent me a text this morning saying, 'I aint a farmer, so I don't know what goats are, but I know Jericho is the greatest of all-time.' I just dropped my phone. We heard rumblings Soultrain Jones would be involved in some capacity, but when we saw it, we were as surprised as everyone else.
Ortiz (Ruffian)
He is a phenomenal asset to the wrestling industry. His knowledge is unmatched. I don't think anyone has the knowledge that Soultrain Jones has, which is why he was Chris Jericho's mentor and trainer. He's a testament to the wrestling community.
Chris Jericho (Inspired By Soultrain Jones)
I've known Soultrain since I was 12. He's always been a guy that you go to for inspiration here and there. Take him to Olive Garden and listen to many years of his wise experience. You heard what he said. He doesn't know what a goat is because he's not a farmer, but he know that I'm the greatest of all-time. I don't think that's the last we're gonna see of Soultrain Jones here in AEW.
It comes as no surprise that a former Million Dollar Champion and nWo original influenced so many. Now, tell us how he influenced you.
