Move over Aaron Judge, there is another man with a knack for hitting Home Runs, and that is New Japan Pro Wrestling's Rocky Romero.

Before winning the NWA World Historic Welterweight Championship on Friday, Romero would join Fightful's Wrestling Perspective Podcast with Dennis Farrell and Lars Frederiksen this week and spoke on various topics. When asked by Lars Frederiksen if Rocky ever thought he would be in a position of control, power, and respect to make decisions.

“I mean, honestly not at this level. I'm extremely proud of the accomplishments that I've had over the last couple of years. They are big wins. I feel like getting Kenny to the Tokyo Dome after, you know, Kenny left to form AEW. There was a bit of a miscommunication between the New Japan office and Kenny, and what Kenny wanted, even though the former (NJPW) president (Harold Meij) at the time didn't understand”. Romero said.

"So to go back and help mend that, but to have a huge home run success with it. Omega versus Osprey, people are talking about that it could be the greatest match they've ever seen or one of them. Dude, that's something that I helped put together." Romero said.

"I wasn't the one who went out there and hit the home run. That was the guys, but being part of it to bring it all together was massive. Bringing the Forbidden Door (PPV) together with Tony (Khan), AEW and New Japan, two big organizations with two different ways of looking at wrestling, and a bunch of stars I have never met or talked to, and bringing them all together in one roof. That's a huge, huge home run." said Romero.

When Romero was a guest on The Oral Sessions with Renee Paquette in December. He said it was during the pandemic when he began to help build a relationship between AEW and NJPW. That relationship eventually led to the PPV event, which was a financial success.

Regarding what he has done in his career outside the ring in New Japan. Romero would tell The Wrestling Perspective Podcast. "I definitely never thought I would be doing it on this level, and it's kind of crazy. I feel humble and fortunate."

Rocky Romero won the NWA World Historic Welterweight Title by defeating Volador Jr. at CMLL's Viernes Espectaculares on January 20th. The full results for that event can be seen by clicking here.
