Sabu wants to go out with a bang.
Joey Janela's Spring Break 9 is set to be headlined by a massive match, as Sabu will compete for the last time, facing Joey Janela in a singles contest.
The match will likely be a big hurdle for Sabu to overcome, as the 'Homicidal Suicidal Genocidal Death-Defying Maniac' last wrestled all the way back in 2021.
While chatting with Fightful Overbooked for a new interview, Janela talked about the match and revealed that Sabu wants it to be the greatest match of all time.
"Sabu, I don’t know where his mind is at right now. I know he wants to do the match. He hasn’t wrestled in a few years. I know he’s a big fan of mine and GCW. We didn’t start off on always the same page. We had a match in like 2016, they did a documentary on YouTube, ‘Please Don’t Die,’ that was the focal point of the documentary, Sabu was like beat to death in this situation and couldn’t get it done in the ring. The match just didn’t go the way we planned. It was like, ‘Fuck. Never meet your idols, never wrestle your idols.’ At that point, I was like, ‘Fuck this guy.’ Later years, we’ve become tight. Hanging out in Las Vegas, we have mutual friends and it’s fucking Sabu. If anyone was going to get his last match, it was going to be me. I said, ‘I’ll get you through it, Sabu.’ He goes, ‘No, I’ll get you through it.’ That’s what I want to here. He said he wants it to be his greatest match of all time. It could be."
Elsewhere in the interview, Janela talked about how The People vs. GCW almost got shut down. Check out his full comments on the issue by clicking here.
The second night of the JCW J-Cup tournament will stream live on Triller TV on Sunday, February 16.
