Sean Waltman Looks Back On His TNA Wrestling Experience, Wishes He Would Have Handled It Differently

Sean Waltman isn't dwelling on his time in TNA anymore.

After parting ways with WWE in July 2002, Waltman would find his way to NWA Total Nonstop Action in September of that year. The man dubbed as Syxx-Pac would go on to join the X-Division, however, after just two short months he would depart the company.

Waltman would return to TNA in February 2005, with this stint lasting only eight months. He would come back to the promotion one last time in January 2010 before departing that June.

Speaking with Fightful (full interview above), Waltman explained that what he was hoping to do in the X-Division was show the performers how to incorporate all of their amazing moves into a main event style match with main event style psychology.

"Well, what I was doing was, the guys in the X-Division and Light Heavyweight, the Cruiserweight divisions, the moves are amazing, right? The spots are amazing. I got to share with them, and guys like AJ Styles in my first match with him, how to incorporate all that stuff, but in a main event style with a main event psychology and main event reactions from the people. That was what was different about my X- Division matches," he said.

Despite his tenures with TNA (now IMPACT Wrestling) not ending under the greatest of circumstances, Waltman still believes that he was still delivering good content inside of the ring. That said, he wishes that he wasn't so messed up during his experience with the company.

"Yeah, I think so, and I was still, in spite of the fact I was kind of a mess — well, not kind of, I was pretty much a mess most of the time I wasever at TNA / IMPACT — but I was still putting out good stuff in the ring. I wish I would have been able to pass on more knowledge behind the scenes instead of being so messed up back then. But we can’t go back and change things, right? I don’t beat myself up about it anymore. I wish I wouldn’t have been so messed up during my TNA experience. I’ll just put it that way," he said.

Elsewhere during the interview, Waltman recalled some memories from his time in the nWo. Click here to learn more.
