Sean Waltman Says The Kliq's WWF Action Zone Match Is One Of The Best Tag Team Matches You'll See

Sean Waltman holds one of his WWF Action Zone matches in incredibly high regard.

The match, which aired on the October 30, 1994 episode of WWE Action Zone, saw Shawn Michaels team with Diesel to go against Razor Ramon and the 1-2-3 Kid. Speaking with Fightful (full interview above), Waltman shared that he considers this one of the top three matches of his career.

"Top three matches in my career. That was one of the best tag team matches you’ll see. I’m not just saying that because it’s myself and my three best friends. Paul (Triple H) wasn’t there, obviously. Looking back on that, I wrestled three times that night. That was my third match. It was at the end of the night and the people were dead. They were dead. We got out there and as soon as we started in, the place came alive. We were going there every two or three weeks for TV shows. So these people were [dead], but we got them," he said.

Further detailing the bout, Waltman explained how the four of them did some unconventional things, but how it ultimately worked perfectly.

"Yeah, we did a lot of unconventional things. Like Scott hit Shawn with his finish, the Razor’s Edge like right in the beginning of the match. Things that normally, when you’re laying a match out, you wouldn’t put those things in those spots, but we did it and it worked perfectly. So yeah, Scott took the big heat. It’s great getting heat on Scott Hall ‘cause he’d sell for everybody. Thank you for bringing that match up, ‘cause it’s one of my favorites," he said.

Waltman concluded by praising the work Todd Pettengill did on commentary, singling out the energy he brought.

"I was a Todd Pettengill fan. I thought he did a really good job. He wasn’t the guy that had all the insider terms for the names of the moves. He was no Mike Tenay or anything like that. But he had a nice energy he brought to it. All I’m saying is I see why they brought him in," Waltman said.

WWF Action Zone ran from October 1994 until September 1996 for a total of 30 episodes.

Elsewhere during the interview, Waltman recalled some memories from his time in the nWo. Click here to learn more.
