At GCW Amerikaz Most Wanted in December 2022, Starboy Charlie scored arguably the biggest win of his career when he defeated Matt Cardona.
Cardona is a former GCW World Champion and the self-proclaimed Deathmatch Legend and Indie Legend.
The victory made such an impact on Starboy's career that it is his current Twitter banner, highlighting Starboy's jubilation and Cardona's shock.
"That match was really awesome. I watched a lot of WWE growing up and one of the main guys on there, Matt Cardona, formerly known as Zack Ryder, it was pretty surreal to me that I was wrestling someone that I grew up watching on TV. It was really awesome," Starboy told Jeremy Lambert of Fightful.
Cardona is known for his brash personality on the independent scene, but he did have kind words to say about Starboy after the bout.
"He said something positive to me after my match. It was along the lines of, 'good job. Keep going at it in this business, you'll get far.' It's always overtoned by some cockiness and that Matt Cardona attitude," he said. "[Him saying something nice is] the real win for me."
Starboy made it all the way to AEW Rampage on March 10, teaming with Jack Cartwheel to face The Acclaimed (Anthony Bowens & Max Caster).
