Swerve Strickland talks Chris Jericho's influence on not just his wrestling, but his music also.
When Strickland is not wrestling in All Elite Wrestling, he is in the studio producing music, being one of several wrestling names who have branched out into making music. Another name that has done this successfully is Chris Jericho, who is also the lead singer of the band Fozzy.
While speaking to Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp at AEW's All In 2025 tickets on sale event, Strickland spoke about making music, noting that Chris Jericho has been an inspiration for a log of what he has done.
"Truth be told, Jericho's kind of the inspiration for a lot of what I've done. He's the one that done the multifaceted things for the last 25 years in wrestling, and I was inspired by that. If he can do it, I know I can try to do something like that. For me, creating Big Pressure was mainly Flash Garments, man. That's why he gets the stage to actually perform it on the big events. Because without him and his mind in creating, we don't get that. We don't get it to the stadium. We don't get to the arenas. But he saw the vision of, ‘This is arena music. We're going to make arena music,’ and [Proffitt] putting the production behind it. That was supposed to go to Rihanna. It went to me. So like him and then [Khalid] coming and bringing the drums and just hit so hard and [Proffitt] remixing it again to the guitars for when I got with the Mogul Embassy. Then him remixing it again to go to the Big Trill version with Bun B and Westside Gun on it. I was more so the platform and those guys were the brain / mind work, that was the team effort to do that that's why if you look at All In, you've seen [Proffitt], you've seen Flash you seen Bun B and Westside Gunn. You seen DJ Whoo Kid, who presented the tape, the Motion Sickness like album that me and Flash created. So it's everything that we we've created together, we're gonna celebrate together, you know I mean?"
Strickland has been in the midst of a feud with Bobby Lashley and The Hurt Syndicate, losing a singles bout with Lashley at AEW Full Gear 2025.
