Update On Kairi Sane's Contract And WWE

Kairi Sane's WWE deal is finally coming to an end in February, according to the Wrestling Observer. Fightful has learned more about her time with the company.

Kairi's deal is set to expire in February, but WWE sources that we spoke to said that it's not a done deal that she'll depart the company, those most expect her to allow her contract to expire.

The same sources indicated to Fightful that in 2020, Kairi Sane made it clear that she wanted to return to Japan. WWE honored that request, and wanted to keep her under contract. We're told that when she left the States, there was still fleeting hope in global localization of Performance Centers across the globe, which we're told there are "no ongoing plans for any longer." Kairi has served as an ambassador in Japan for WWE and done some commentary as well.

We're told that when Kairi Sane originally left the U.S., there was "little to no concern" that she'd want to head to AEW, with one WWE higher up saying "that was so far off of her radar at that point, it didn't seem like something we really needed to worry about." When we followed up with that same higher up in light of Sane's deal coming due, they said they personally don't expect her to be in AEW full-time, but would be surprised if she didn't eventually make an appearance. We've not spoken to anyone in AEW about this as of yet.
