Those two competitors who will have the opportunity to possibly be in the Wrestle Kingdom main event is two-time winner of the G1 Hiroshi Tanahashi and New Japan Cup winner Kota Ibushi. Tanahashi stood tall in the A-block with a total of 15 points and in order for Kota to have advanced to the finals he needed to defeat his partner and IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kenny Omega in the main event of today's B-block action as there was a four way tie at the top of the bracket between Ibushi, Omega, Tetsuya Naito and Zack Sabre Jr. Ibushi defeated Omega which put him at the top of the tiebreaker and he was ultimately declared the winner of B-block.

The finals of the G1 are now set for tomorrow as Hiroshi Tanahshi and Kota Ibushi will do battle on the final night of G1 action to see who will be crowned the 28th champion of the tournament. The final night of G1 action will also see the return of Rey Mysterio as he will take on the mysterious "Sengoku Enbu".
