Finn Bálor Says The Reason He Is On WWE SmackDown Is To Win Championships

Finn Bálor is back on WWE's main roster for one reason and one reason only.

On the July 16 episode of Friday Night SmackDown, Sami Zayn came to the ring and informed the live audience about the ongoing conspiracy against him, specifically his exclusion from the men's Money in the Bank ladder match. Surprisingly, he was then interrupted by Finn Bálor.

Finn made quick work of Sami, knocking him down and delivering a Coup de Grâce.

After losing to "The Fiend" Bray Wyatt at SummerSlam 2019, Bálor was away from the company until he returned to NXT in October. Bálor would go on to become NXT Champion in September 2020. He held the title until NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver, where he was defeated by Karrion Kross. He lost the rematch to Kross on the May 25, 2021, episode of NXT and had been off television since that bout.

Speaking with Kayla Braxton on the latest episode of Talking Smack, Bálor explained why he has reemerged on SmackDown.

"Obviously there's always a plan," he said. "I went to NXT, I became NXT Champion. I moved to Raw, became the first Universal Champion. Became two-time Intercontinental Champion, went back to NXT and won the NXT Championship. So, the reason that I'm here on SmackDown is to win Championships."

As for his message to the fans, Finn said the following:

"Obviously, I'm eternally grateful for the fans' support throughout the pandemic. My message, 'Buckle your seatbelts, we're going for a ride.'"
