Some unfortunate news to pass along.
Another member of the wrestling world has passed away unfortunately. Ed Cohen, who was the former Executive of WWE Live events passed away yesterday. The news of Cohen's passing was brought to the forefront by WWE Hall Of Famer "Mene" Gene Okerlund via Facebook.
Okerlund wrote the following:
"Sad to report that long time WWE ggexecutive Ed Cohen diéd yesterday. Ed was basically in charge of securing venues for WWE house shows and later television takings. In the early years Cohen was especially close in working with Vince and Linda McMahon because income from house shows was a main revenue stream for the then young company. Ed remained with the company for many years but his failing health became an issue in later years and he was less involved. RIP Ed Cohen."
One of Ed Cohen's role was to set up the dates and locations for WWF live events. He would get in contact and come to agreements with the owners of the buildings that WWE (F) were looking to run shows out of. A write-up by Mike Johnson of PWInsider about the passing of Ed Cohen read that Cohen, at one point had the responsibility of locking down the majority of WrestleMania venues during the 1980's and 1990's. Ed Cohen spent over 20 years as a part of the WWE/F and his contributions to the company will always be remembered by those who knew him and were close to him.
