Former WWE Star Ashley Massaro Passes Away At 39 Years Old

Some unfortunate news to pass along concerning Ashley Massaro.

As first reported by The Blast, former WWE star and Diva Search winner Ashley Massaro has passed away at the age of 39. The circumstances of her death are unknown as of this writing but The Blast added that police on the case are stating that no foul play was involved in her passing. The Suffolk County Medical Examiner in New York added that Massaro died today and was brought into the medical examiner's office. Ashley's death is under investigation and officials did not further comment on her passing.

It is also noted in the report that a "rescue call" was made at 5:23 AM to her home in Smithtown, New York and she was soon taken to a local hospital where she passed.

Ashley made her WWE debut in 2005 after winning the company's Diva Search competition. She was able to compete at WrestleMania 23 in a WWE Women's Championship match against Melina. Ashley remained with the sports-entertainment company for three years until being released in July of 2008. Massaro also appeared on the show 'Survivor' and had a career in modeling and acting and her last match, per Cagematch.net was on the April 28th edition of RAW in 2008.

WWE commented on Ashley's passing and released the following statement:

We are saddened to learn of the tragic death of former WWE Superstar Ashley Massaro. She performed in WWE from 2005-2008 and was beloved by her fellow Superstars and fans around the world. WWE offers its condolences to Ashley’s family and friends.
