Gable Steveson Has First Match, Fights Baron Corbin To Double Count-Out At NXT Great American Bash

Gable Steveson's first match ended without a clear conclusion.

At NXT Great American Bash, Steveson competed in his first match when he faced Corbin. The match was set up when Corbin interrupted Steveson when he was set to announce his future on the July 25 episode of NXT. Corbin insulted the Olympic gold medalist, who then challenged Corbin to a match.

Corbin came to the ring with a new entrance song and video. He was also wearing new gear to match. Meanwhile, Steveson received a special video package.

Steveson didn't show any nerves, as he took the fight to the former King of the Ring right away. Leaning on his amateur background, Steveson showcased some impressive athleticism. Likewise, Corbin used his veteran expertise to counter Steveson and control the match at different points. The action spilled to the outside, and they brawled until the referee reached the ten count, at which point the match was ruled a double count-out.

The two stars were determined to keep fighting each other after the bell, and they didn't let the official's decision stop them. They kept brawling, and they even attacked security guards. Steveson dished out some suplexes to a few guards. He then sent Corbin crashing through a ringside barricade with a belly-to-belly suplex. Steveson stood tall, but it was clear that the issue between him and Corbin was far from over.
