Speaking to Ariel Helwani on the MMA Hour, Steveson revealed he recorded his return video long in advance of the actual announcement.

"I made that video a year and three months ago. I made that video a year and three months ago. I was supposed to wrestle last year, and I decided not to, the timing wasn’t right. So we held that video this whole time. It gets me fired up, knowing that I’m coming back to what I’m used to, I’m coming back to the University of Minnesota, I’m coming back to amateur wrestling, and gonna make it a powerhouse and go out there and dominate and put on a great show as I always do," said Steveson.

Steveson is set to make his return on November 24.

Steveson was part of WWE from 2021, when he signed a NIL deal with the company, to May 2024 when he was released. He only wrestled one televised match in NXT. He tried out for the Buffalo Bills after his WWE released, but was among the final roster cuts.

Elsewhere during the interview, Steveson commented on his time in WWE. You can find his full comments by clicking here.
