Gail Kim is returning to the ring for one more match.
Kim last wrestled at IMPACT Rebellion 2019, where she lost to Tessa Blanchard. She was the inaugural TNA Knockouts Champion, and she has held the title seven times. Kim is also a former TNA Knockouts Champion, and she was inducted into the TNA Hall of Fame in 2016. She continues to work for IMPACT behind the scenes as a producer.
During an appearance on Busted Open Radio, Kim announced that she will be wrestling at IMPACT 1000 on September 9. She did not name her opponent for the match.

IMPACT subsequently announced that Kim will team up with Awesome Kong, who will be coming out of retirement at the show. Kim noted that Kong was her greatest rival, but she would become her greatest partner. She then invited any Knockout, past or present, to either stand with them or against them.
