Effy won the GCW World Title at The People vs. GCW, defeating Mance Warner in the main event.
Mance was in control of the match, and about to use a guitar on Effy, but Cole Radrick made the save. Instead of cashing in his brass ring to insert himself into the match, Radrick handed the guitar to Effy.
Effy smashed the guitar over the head of Mance and hit the Sack Rider for the victory.

This marks Effy's first reign as GCW World Champion. Mance held the title for 232 days and made 28 successful title defenses.
Effy earned his title shot earlier in the night by defeating Allie Katch, who unfortunately suffered a leg injury their number one contenders match.
