He has done it.
Reports made the rounds yesterday afternoon by way of Pro Wrestling Sheet that former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Glenn "Kane" Jacobs was in the running to emerge victorious in the Knox County, TN mayoral race. During the GOP primaries the Republican candidate Jacobs tallied up 14,000 votes and the Democrat candidate Linda Haney tallied a little over 4,000 votes.
Today the citizens of Knox County casted their votes and the polls officially closed at 8 PM EST. Once the polls were closed, early and absentee voting showed that Jacobs had a 2-1 lead over Haney and the Mayoral race was called early based on that information.
Glenn "Kane" Jacobs announced his intentions to run for Mayor of Knox County in 2017 and during the time period in between his initial announcement and today he made sporadic appearances for the WWE. Most recently he teamed up with Daniel Bryan at the 'Extreme Rules' PPV to challenge The Bludgeon Brothers for the SmackDown Live Tag Team Championships. Jacobs was reportedly said to have damaged his Achilles prior to that match which led to the angle being shot before their bout at 'Extreme Rules' where he had his leg jammed in between a door. "The Big Red Machine" has now traded in his red and black singlet for his suit and tie as he is now set to be the mayor of Knox County, TN.
