Gunther says he wants to face the best, and he's open to any challenge.
Since the June 10, 2022, episode of WWE SmackDown, Gunther has reigned supreme as the WWE Intercontinental Champion. He has defeated stars like Sheamus, Rey Mysterio, Braun Strowman, and many others. A major WWE event, WWE SummerSlam, is right around the corner, and fans have started to speculate about Gunther's match at the show.
Speaking with Steve Fall for WrestlingNewsCo, Gunther was asked to name who he wants to face WWE SummerSlam. He responded by stating that there are plenty of fresh match-ups, and he's not in the position to identify people that he wants to go after.
"To be honest, I think there's -- especially since we just got drafted to Raw, I think there's a lot of fresh matchups that could be done. I think I'm in a position right now where there's a target on my back, and it's on everybody else to come after me. I don't have to identify people that I want to go after. That's not the position I'm in. So yeah, let's see, I'm open to any challenge. I'm here to be in the ring with the best to face-to-face competition, to have the biggest possible challenge," Gunther said.
