A mask falls on CMLL's 91st Anniversary.
CMLL hosted a special show celebrating the 91st Anniversary of the promotion. One of the marquee matches of the show was a Mask Quadrangular pitting Hechicero, Euforia, Esfinge, and El Valiente.
After two eliminations, the heated brawl between the four rivals was decided between Hechicero & Euforia as the last two remaining participants. After a heated exchange between the two, the finish came when Hechicero wrapped around Euforia with a Crucifix Double Arm-Breaker to pick up the win, finally getting his revenge on the Colossus of the Lagoon.
Euforia had some words for Hechicero after the match, being at his most distraught point. He stated the following: “Before anything, I want to thank everyone who trusted me, but I wasn’t able to win tonight. To everyone who came to support Hechicero, congratulations to you all, and congrats to you Hechicero. Just like how I go this mask with pride, I take great pride in giving you this mask because you have proven to be a great wrestler, and a better man today”.
This was Hechicero's first ever Lucha de Apuestas Match in CMLL (third ever in his career), taking the win. Euforia was revealed to be Jose Leobardo Moreno Leon, where he spoke about holding the mask for the length of his storied career. This was Euforia's first Lucha De Apuestas since 1998 (5th ever), getting his first loss in this kind of match. Euforia stated the following:
“Before I unmask, you will know who I am. I am Jose Leobardo Moreno Leon, son of the great Soberano and I will give the mask I wore with great pride for 18 years”.
Hechicero replied by putting Euforia over, thanking him for being a great rival during his illustrious 18-year career. Hechicero stated the following: “For great wrestlers, they are great rivals. Without rivals like you, we are nothing. No matter what happens tomorrow, today I thank you”.
