The press release is as follows:

The action-adventure podcast, The Luchador: 1000 Fights of El Fuego Fuerte, featuring some of the most recognizable and eclectic voices in professional wrestling, has made its first casting announcement for their upcoming second season. The joshi superstar, Hikaru Shida, has landed a principal role on the show’s upcoming second season. She is best known as the current Women’s World Champion of All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and will be defending her title at AEW’s All In at Wembley Stadium, ‘the biggest event in wrestling history.’ Shida is also known globally from her time in the ring with Ice Ribbon and her roles in international genre films like Mutant Girls Squad, and the wrestling film Three Count. Hikaru Shida is the first of several high-profile names joining the cast.

Season one included the talents of Danhausen, Colt Cabana, Raven, Effy and Luchasaurus. Show creator Dan Valero Fletcher says, “We are incredibly excited to have Shida on board. Her inclusion in our next season indicates that the world of The Luchador is about to get a whole lot bigger.” The Luchador: 1,000 Fights of El Fuego Fuerte is set in a supernaturally charged world of Lucha Libre and Mesoamerican myth. The show follows the story of the “Champion of Mexico City”, the heroic, sometimes ethically perplexed El Fuego Fuerte. Season two finds the titular hero and his rudo compatriot Lobo Sangre entering a prestigious lucha libre tournament as each is drawn further and further to their respective sides of the tecnico/rudo divide, and only one can come down the mountain a winner.

The second season will drop Fall of 2023, and you can expect more casting announcements in the lead-up to release. Season one is currently available on all podcast streaming platforms.

As noted in the press release, the second season of "The Luchador: 1000 Fights of El Fuego Fuerte" will drop in the fall of 2023.

The first season, which is available here, featured Luchasaurus, Raven, Effy, Danhausen, and Colt Cabana, among other names from the wrestling world.

Shida will defend the AEW Women's World Championship at AEW All In on August 27. Check out the card here. Fightful will provide more information as it becomes available.
