With the Best Of The Super Juniors set to take place after NJPW's G1 Climax, Hiromu Takahashi wants his tournament to be even better than the G1.
Recently, NJPW announced that the Best Of The Super Juniors will take place on November 11 and the first time that the tournament takes place after the G1 Climax, usually filled with NJPW's heavyweight wrestlers. Months ago, Takahashi mentioned he would love to see both tournaments take place at the same time, but since that never happened, he thinks that the NJPW office isn't very receptive to some of his ideas.
"I don’t think the office is listening to me and what I want specifically, are they? But if I can fire things up a bit, so much the better. I’m never going to say that the junior heavyweights are beneath the heavyweights. But as long as we have two different weight classes, people are going to compare the two, and people should compare the two in my opinion," Takahashi said.
As Takahashi wants to continue to prove that the company's junior heavyweights are on par with the heavyweights, he said one of his goals is to make BOSJ better than the G1, which recently concluded.
"So when it comes to the matches in BoSJ, I want us to blow everything that happened in the G1 out of the water, and have the fans think I was the best wrestler in the best tournament. And win the whole thing of course (laughs)," Takahashi said.
