A challenge made. A challenge accepted.
After defending the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship against David Finlay at NJPW Sakura Genesis, Hirooki Goto revealed that he already had someone to be his next challenger and called out Shota Umino.
Goto declared that he wanted to face Umino to keep his promise that two Japanese wrestlers would come to the United States and show authentic Strong Style. Umino accepted the challenge but stated that he was focused on taking the title away from the veteran and becoming the leader of Hontai. Earlier in the evening, Umino defeated Hiroshi Tanahashi.
'Two Japanese guys should show America that true Japanese Strong Style is the best pro-wrestling in the world!'
