On Wednesday, New Japan Pro-Wrestling announced that Tetsuya Naito and BUSHI would be departing the company. NJPW stated that the promotion and Naito mutually agreed to not renew his contract.
NJPW President Hiroshi Tanahashi gave the following statement to fans:
"I'm sorry for the news that surprised and sad everyone today. I talked to Naito yesterday. I told Naito, who loves New Japan, that I wanted him to stay in New Japan until the end, but his will was strong and I couldn't change it. I will leave the group in a way that respects the person's feelings. For the rest of the time, please support Naito and BUSHI," wrote Tanahashi.
Naito and BUSHI will compete in their last scheduled matches with NJPW at Wrestling Dontaku night two on May 4th.
They will team with fellow Los Ingobernables de Japon members Hiromu Takahashi & Shingo Takagi to take on Shota Umino, Tomohiro Ishii, Taichi & TAKA Michinoku.
