The mystery continues.
On the October 17 episode of NXT, Trick Williams was attacked ahead of a #1 Contender's Match for the NXT Championship. Carmelo Hayes would go on to win the match.
Almost two months later, the mystery has yet to be solved, but Carmelo Hayes believes that it was NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov who attacked Trick Williams, saying he had the most to gain.
Ilja denied the accusations and questioned if Trick got attacked at all. Trick wasn't happy with the implication and Ilja said he needed to talk to his friend.
Melo tried to snatch the title from Ilja, leading to a struggle and Melo accidentally hitting Trick with the title.
"Ilja...it was you!"

Ilja is set to defend the NXT Championship against Trick at NXT New Year's Evil. Trick earned the title match by winning the men's Iron Survivor Challenge at NXT Deadline.
After losing to Carmelo at NXT Deadline, Lexis King said he wasn't the one who attacked Trick after he was accused of doing so, but thanked Carmelo for the PLE spotlight.
