Ilja Dragunov got a little banged up.
Ilja Dragunov is known for his extremely physical style, which can sometimes heighten his risk of suffering an injury. The former NXT Champion recently revealed that a rough landing affected him for a few weeks.
Speaking with Alistair McGeorge of Metro, Dragunov reflected on his match against Ricochet on the May 6th episode of WWE Raw, as he noted that landing on his head or neck bothered him for a few weeks. However, he noted that everything was fine now.
"It was the Superplex Bomb that I took literally straight on my head or neck. When I did that, I kind of overshot, I don’t know what I was thinking. That was quite uncomfortable to get up after that, and also bothered me for a couple of weeks, but now everything’s fine again," Dragunov said.
Dragunov missed a few weeks following his match against Bron Breakker on the June 10th episode of WWE Raw. He was then absent again following his loss to Breakker on the July 22nd episode of WWE Raw. Dragunov returned to action at the WWE Main Event taping on August 19th, and he has been competing at WWE's live events in Europe.
Dragunov recently commented on a potential rematch with Gunther. Check out his comments here.
