The March 4 episode of SmackDown started with a title change.
After challenging Sami Zayn to a match last week, Ricochet and Sami kicked off tonight's SmackDown with an Intercontinental Championship bout. This was Sami's first defense of the title since winning it from Shinsuke Nakamura just a few weeks ago.
The match started with Ricochet scoring a near fall almost immediately, though Zayn would fight back, taking control after hitting a suplex on the ring apron. The two men would continue trading chances until Johnny Knoxville came out and distracted Sami. This would allow Ricochet to pin Zayn and win the Intercontinental Championship for the first time in his career.
