The Intercontinental Championship has changed hands!
On the August 13 episode of WWE SmackDown, Apollo Crews put his title on the line against Shinsuke Nakamura. Towards the end of the bout, Rick Boogs was thrown out from ringside after he started playing his guitar, a distraction method that has won Shinsuke a few matches in recent weeks. At the same time, however, Commander Azeez tried to get up onto the apron and was also sent to the back.
Now one-on-one, Shinsuke controlled Apollo. After countering a splash, Nakamura hit a suplex and Kinshasha for the pin and win. This is Nakamura's second reign with the prestigious belt.
Apollo first won the title from Big E at WrestleMania 37 but has relied on the help of his Commander to retain it over the past four months.
